Biting the Bullet

A Gentle Comedy

Thursday 26th - Saturday 28th June 2008

Performances at 20.00

Directed by Ann Kempster

Director's Introduction

A sharply observed, warm comedy that follows housewife Beryl whilst she deals with the emotional aftermath following the breakdown of her marriage. Realistic, touching, & often hilarious, this gentle play will allow you to watch Beryl’s moving journey to its conclusion.

A row following a firm’s dinner dance is the catalyst for Ted’s decision to leave Beryl, his wife of 32 years, whilst he submits to his mid-life crisis. At first Beryl is shattered, but gradually works back from the edge of despair helped by her exuberant daughter Angie and the down-to-earth, straight talking neighbour, Dawn. A holiday abroad, a complete make-over and a platonic friendship with the handyman - who gives her new ways at looking at life – all go to rescue her from the nightmare of separation.

When Ted decides that the grass is not so green on the other side of the fence, Beryl is able to meet him on her own terms – but what will she decide about her future?

A lovely touching comedy that should not be missed!
